Dear Friends,
The beginning of a new year, whether it be around the
world, the nation or the city, is traditionally a time
for celebration, reflection and promise. This is so true
in New Bedford. As we look back, the past year has
spawned many big and small business success stories,
strong evidence of cooperation among city departments,
and the strengthening of partnerships across the region.
Companies are beginning to look to New Bedford because
of our workforce, our quality of life, and importantly,
our renewed proactive and open approach to welcoming and
servicing business needs.
With this first issue of 2007, we are happy to launch
our website at www.nbedc.org Customer focused, the site
is designed to be dynamic, keeping current with the
needs of companies looking at the possibilities New
Bedford has to offer and further enriching small
business development. It details services and programs
the city provides including: streamlining the process of
locating and/or expanding business in New Bedford,
guidance through the many loan programs, and assistance
finding suitable real estate. Also, the business
resource links and archived newsletters are very helpful
references. We look forward to expanding and
strengthening the usefulness of the website. Please feel
free to offer your suggestions. They are always welcome.
Finally, on behalf of the NBEDC Board of Directors and
the NBEDC Team, we wish you and your families a healthy,
prosperous and happy New Year.
Sincerely,
Matthew A. Morrissey
Executive Director
